Who We Are

Our Story

A group of childhood friends who have the vision to create a dining experience like no other. In the heart of Putnam, ‘The Hare and the Hound‘ is an Irish-themed restaurant with the theme of traditional Celtic dishes but with a modern twist that reflects both the personalities of the owners and the experience gained working in the restaurant field. We hope that everyone can come into our restaurant and enjoy a stellar dining experience for years and years to come.

Meet Our Team

The true Irishmen who started it all

Meet Chef Christopher Ethier

Chris found a passion at a young age. Cooking with his father and grandmother. At the age of 16, he got his first opportunity to work in a traditional kitchen at Pleasant Valley Country Club working as a dishwasher/prep-cook, thanks to his childhood friend Micheal DiCenzo. It was not long before his hard work and talent was noticed and was asked to become the Executive chef of Highfield Country Club.

When Chris was presented with the opportunity to open ‘The Hare and the Hound’ with his childhood friends, he saw this as a chance to show Putnam a culinary and pub experience like no other. The menu is influenced by Chris’ true love of comfort food with an eclectic Irish twist. With each dish he creates, Chris strives to be innovative, yet staying true to his culinary roots to provide an unforgettable dining experience.

Meet Owner Michael DiCenzo

Since I was in high school I’ve had the entrepreneurial spirit. My mother would waitress, bartend, and do her 9-5. She would always give me her change every day to take to school, which I loved because we didn’t have much so that made me super excited. I saved it, and then when the ice cream man came to our neighborhood, I would buy candy necklaces and pixie sticks from him for the normal truck cost. I would bag them up and resell them in school to the kids at a higher price. Until one day he asked what I was doing, and I told him. He laughed at me and said, “you know what kid, I’m going to give you the whole box of both and you bring me back $40.00 and keep the rest”. In my head I thought this guy is crazy I’m totally ripping him off. Little did I know he was buying them for $12.00 a box and making $16.00 off of me. But, he trusted me and gave me a no money down option, and I always paid. Your word is everything. From this endeavor and my clothing line EastCoast Entrepreneur, I’ve always wanted to work for myself on my own terms.
